Trekkie Desk Top

Behold --the ultimate Pez collection, atop Lilah's desk. Even the Enterprise gets its own Pez-destal.

Tonight I turned in the final exam for one of my classes. Eight tedious pages, single-spaced, on the ideal LIS solution for libraries, the impact of technology on the delivery of public services, challenges of the distributed information environment and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. No more Library Information Systems for the rest of the summer. Thank you God. Only my Introduction to Research in Library & Information Science class. This week we're diving into statistics. Yay!

Was only mildly mauled by the puppy today. I walk her frequently, and am learning just how many dead birds there are, glued to the street. She finds them all, every one.

I picked up a new habit in Seattle. Drinking wine and watching Frasier. A lovely way to end the day.

Last night I stayed up late trying to make progress on my paper. Tonight I'm up late trying to make up for all the time I didn't get to relax before, because I was working on my damn paper.

On Friday night the kids and I got free tickets to a musical at the Coterie theater --U Bug Me. The lead characters were a fly and an earwig. The fly had a love interest with a caterpillar, and the centipede played in a rock band with several ants. And the bad guy? A big ol' horsefly wearing black leather.

  1. I saw that "U Bug Me" was playing at the Coterie. We wondering what that was all about. I LOVE Lilah's pez dispensers. I collect them. Did you take that picture? How did she get that cool look in the background? School sounds mind numbing. I'm glad you are done with one class! Only mildly mauled? I saw that Michelle Pfeifer is in a new movie called, "Cheri". It will be cool to see the name on the marquee. Hilarious! You really watched Frasier in Seattle? That's funny. I bet it is a relaxing way to end the day. I like watching Blackadder and drinking Arnold Palmers.

  2. Yeah, I took the picture. Lilah got that cool look in the background by taking a piece of metallic pasteboard and putting it behind them. Yeah, we watched Frasier in Seattle --it was really cool when they made local references. School is mind-numbing at times. I had three papers to write in the space of a week and a half. That was brutal. Especially because one of those papers I had to write late at night or early morning in Seattle, to leave the rest of the day free for sight-seeing. I was writing it on the semantic web, a topic I still barely understand!

  3. Whoa! What?! I don't like the sound of that--semantic web. I dunno...
I love the picture. Just think some time someone is going to look at your photo album and you will have a picture of Star Trek pez dispensers--awesome! Lilah is so creative! It looks really good. She really captured the Star Trek feel.

  5. Yes, she is very creative. And her obsession for Star Trek continues on unabated. She makes references to Star Trek whenever she can. Last night I watched one and a half episodes with her. We watched one of her favorites (and mine), The Enemy Within, where William Shatner is at his finest, playing the dark side of Captain Kirk's nature. A transporter malfunction creates a copy of Captain Kirk, only he's the evil Captain Kirk. It's a lot of fun to watch.
