My Vernal Equinox video
Spring is a time when we contemplate the tilt of the earth. A 23.5 degree skew that pits us against our Southern Hemisphere brothers and sisters. You've had the sun long enough. Now it's our turn! The signs are all around us: seasonal fashions flocked with tilting globe motifs...bobble dashboard earths on bouncy springs.....little axial tilt keychains......or so I wish. Who wouldn't totally buy that stuff? We're on a rotating ball----that tilts!
It's that damn tilt that causes us senior citizens to have issues with balance, I believe. You youngsters can adjust, but after a few too many trips around the sun, the ability to mitigate tiltage becomes problematic.
ReplyDeleteJust this morning I almost took a dive trying to put my socks on. I used to be able to bend over and slip them on with nary a waver. Now, I pretty much grab a sock, reach down as far as I can and try to catch a toe on the way by. Damn tilt!
On the upside, approximately 100% of the world's penguins are experiencing their autumnal equinox. I'm sure they are pretty excited about the impending cooler weather.
Now this is an interesting idea. I can't be sure if you are totally putting me on or there is a scientific principle here. That's how shaky my science is! Does that mean people on the equator are more steady?
ReplyDelete"The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it."
ReplyDeletea little creeped out by what the mad scientist was "toasting" on the stick. it looked too much like a mashed up human head. but i LOVE the accompanying music!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Yeah I thought it was a pretty out way to illustrate the earth's motion around the sun. It was a chicken. I copied the music from another YouTube video of a woman playing organ back in the 60s. Cherry Wainer is her name.
