I'm not one to let a blood moon lunar eclipse go unobserved. Seeing a celestial body change in real time never gets old. So I stayed up until almost 3:00 am last night and saw the whole thing from start to finish. It was an eclipse for the lazy, because it was positioned so I could see it from my kitchen window. But I stepped out on the deck anyway from time to time to get a closer look.
Knowing that the darkness overtaking the moon is a shadow cast by a ball I'm standing on, and that that ball is moving, and the moon ball is moving ---and I can see it happening in front of my very eyes! ---is always trippy.
I didn't to try take a photo ---this was an eclipse for the lazy ---so I stole one off the interwebs.
