LIGHT/DARK MODE

Rest in peace, Earl

Earl Scruggs, bluegrass banjo-ist, died yesterday of natural causes at the age of 88.

He was a major reason we enjoyed these things:  Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Lester Flatt, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, and the Beverly Hillbillies theme song.

  1. well, i love this photo. leave it to you to find the most unusual pic to post. i want that couch! anyways.....i have always admired persons who make music by strumming, plucking, and picking stringed instruments. (what would you call a violinist,,they're awesome too) to be able to use one's fingers to convey melody and emotion....quite a gift. rest in peace, mr. scruggs.

  2. I would take my Collings SJ Indian (with abalone inlay) off the wall and rip a three finger roll 'til the cows come home....if I had a Collins SJ Indian (wih abalone inlay) on the wall. (...and if I could do a three finger roll)

    H.(if I had a cow)B.

  3. Sue--I know--I LOVE that couch. H.B., the way you rock those race cars, I'm sure you could roll the three fingers on a SJ Indian if you set your mind to it.

  4. I'm thinking that rolling three fingers on my SJ Indian (with abalone inlay) might be a better thing than rolling my race car!

  5. Yes, you definitely don't want to roll that race car! Especially the ones with abalone inlay.
